IOSC 2008 Film Festival

IOSC will host a Film Festival as part of the week long event. Three days of short films will be shown by agencies, organizations and individuals in the areas of oil spill related training, education and restoration as well as response and operations activities. An award for the best film will be held during Tuesday’s luncheon.

Shell has used it extensive global offshore experience to create one of the most comprehensive spill prevention and control plans ever developed for an Arctic exploratory program. Shell has provided, on location, a highly trained response team and the best available resources for an immediate response to contain, recover and/or eliminate the discharge, thereby minimizing environmental impacts.  This video highlights Shell's oil spill response strategies and tactics that have been designed to cover a wide range of open water and ice conditions.

This video recounts the career of Red Adair who became president of the one of the most successful firefighting companies in the world and specialized in combating oil well fires.

Presenter:       Oil Spill Preparedness Regional Initiative (Caspian Sea – Black Sea – Central Eurasia)

In September 2007, Exercise SULH was hosted by the Republic of Turkey within the framework of the Black Sea Commission’s regional exercise program under the Emergency Protocol to the Bucharest Convention.  This was the first Black Sea regional “Delta” exercise to involve all littoral States and marked an important milestone in the implementation of the region’s oil spill preparedness.

The video documents the Exxon Valdez oil spill and covers the impact to the environment, cleanup operations, restoration efforts and the improvements that have been made to response planning and spill prevention in Prince William Sound, AK.
