John Weust, IOSC 2008 Chair

John Weust manages Marathon Oil Company's international emergency preparedness and response operations, as well as the company's Corporate Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, which encompasses all of the company's Tier III response teams.  He is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Oil Spill Response Limited/ East Asia Response Limited Global Alliance and a former Vice-Chairman of the OSRL Alliance Management Committee. As a member of the OSRL Board, he is also a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD), based in London. John has been a member of the Clean Gulf and IOSC steering committees for several years, is a member of the NRC Client Advisory Board, the API Spills Task Force, the IPIECA Oil Spill Working Group and the International Spills Technical Advisory Committee (ITAC).

John has worked for Marathon Oil Company for 27 years in a variety of engineering, supervisory and management positions and has been assigned in the Production/ Operations, Drilling, HES and Emergency Preparedness Organizations over his career.  John has led Marathon's Global Emergency Preparedness efforts since 1998, developing emergency response and oil spill response programs in over 20 countries and was instrumental in the group that developed the Western and Central Africa (WACAF) OSRL Tier II Dispersant base in Malabo Equatorial Guinea. He was instrumental in convincing the Sakhalin Oblast (Russia) to adopt the Incident Command System for offshore emergency response operations, as Marathon was the first Western oil company to operate in an offshore environment in Russia.
