Objectives:    Provide students with an overview of the tactics and techniques used in Arctic oil spill responses, with particular emphasis on cold weather (winter) conditions. 

Scope:          Classroom PowerPoint format with lecture and guided discussion presentations.

Level:            Intermediate (for persons familiar with response issues and equipment but unfamiliar with cold weather or arctic spill response operations)

1100              Delineation & Tracking of Oil (On snow and ice, In ice, and under ice)

1300              Containment & Recovery of Oil on Ice and Under Ice

1430              Containment & Recovery of Oil in Broken Ice

1530              Case Studies: Responding to Spills in Arctic Oil Fields (includes spills of materials other than crude oil)
