Advanced Oil Spill Response
(A joint presentation by Oil Spill Response and East Asia Response Limited (OSRL/EARL) and The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF))
Short Course Agenda:
This course will provide a comprehensive evaluation of oil spill response options. The effectiveness of response measures will be compared and assessed in the light of environmental “trade–offs” and assessment of potential impacts. Actual case study evidence will be used to illustrate the methods employed and problems faced by decision-makers in identifying and implementing a course of action.
Instructors:
Kathi Stanzel, Andrew Tucker, Franck Laruelle and Mark Whittington from ITOPF plus one lecturer from OSRL to be determined.
Objectives:
This intermediate level course will provide delegates with a good understanding of the opportunities and limitations of the main response strategies, taking account of the likely environmental consequences of each, using real examples where appropriate. The course will also provide background context to many of the conference papers and topics under discussion within the wider conference.
Target Audience:
Conference delegates who are already versed with a basic understanding of oil spill response issues.
